The Name Behind the Promise
About Jason Becker & Elite Scholars Prep
A college professor with 15+ years in higher education, tutoring and coaching students one at a time from Falconer, New York.
Our Story
From the Professor's Desk to Your Kitchen Table
Elite Scholars Prep exists because one educator kept meeting college freshmen who deserved better preparation — and decided to provide it earlier.
Jason "Jay" Becker has spent more than 15 years inside higher education — teaching business, communication, and sport management as an assistant professor at Hilbert College, advising students, and developing curriculum used by institutions across the country. Year after year, he watched bright first-year students arrive underprepared: shaky study habits, no test strategy, and families who'd navigated admissions and financial aid completely alone.
Elite Scholars Prep is his answer. Founded in Falconer and built around the tagline "Where Your Future Begins With A Name, Not A Number," it brings a professor's insider knowledge to students while it can still change their trajectory — through one-on-one tutoring, test prep, and academic coaching delivered with genuine care. Jay holds an M.S. in Sport Administration from Canisius University and a B.A. from SUNY Oswego, and is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at St. Bonaventure University.

What Guides the Work
The Promises Behind Every Session
Four commitments that hold whether the student is a struggling freshman or a scholarship hopeful.
Empathy Before Instruction
We've been in your shoes — we know the pressure of college applications, the confusion around financial aid, and the desire to stand out. Students are met with understanding first, teaching second.
Education, Individualized
Education should be empowering and tailored to the individual. No two students get the same plan here, because no two students need the same plan.
Integrity With Families
Honest assessments, realistic goals, and no upselling of sessions a student doesn't need. Our promise is expert, personalized guidance that serves the student — full stop.
Excellence With Direction
High standards matter most when they point somewhere. Every skill we build connects to the bigger journey: graduation, admission, scholarship, career.
Credentials That Teach
Why a Professor Makes a Different Kind of Tutor
Most tutors have taken the classes. Your student's tutor has taught them, graded them, and advised the students in them.
The difference shows up everywhere. Essay feedback comes from someone who has evaluated thousands of pages of student writing. College advice comes from someone who has sat in the meetings where curriculum and admissions standards get set. Study-skills coaching comes from someone who sees, every single semester, exactly which habits sink freshmen and which ones carry them to the dean's list.
Add faculty experience advising the Super Bowl Internship Field Experience program and years of curriculum development work praised by partners across higher education, and your student isn't just getting homework help — they're getting a mentor with a working map of where they're headed.
